Demonstrate knowledge of roles and documentation, and communicate, within the construction industry
Demonstrate knowledge of structural principles for building work
Determine and describe construction of small buildings
Estimate costs for a small building project
Demonstrate knowledge of building construction for a medium building
Programme construction works for a medium building
Identify environmental impacts, design, and construction techniques, on and of the built environment
Administer contracts and value building works
Demonstrate knowledge of administration processes and procedures for construction work
Measure schedules of quantities for specialist trade sections for quantity surveying
Estimate costs for medium or large building projects
Demonstrate the process of contract selection and tendering for a medium building
Determine and describe construction of medium and large buildings

Applicants under 20 years of age:

- NCEA, with a minimum of 50 credits at Level 2 including 12 credits in Mathematics and a minimum of 12 Literacy credits; or

- NZ Trade Certificate in Carpentry, or National Certificate in Carpentry; or 

- be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills with four years secondary education preferred.


Applicants over 20 years of age:

- successful completion of a programme of study at Level 3 or above in a related discipline; or

- employment in the related sector for one or more years.
