North Shore Language School started in 2003 is a well-known academy with an excellent reputation. The school teaches English for Speakers of Other Languages to both international and domestic students and trains entry-level ESOL teachers. The school actively engages with ESOL and tertiary education networks, staying current with industry good practice models and research, supporting effective programme design and delivery. Each programme has a comprehensive curriculum (and learning plans) which clearly articulates learning outcomes. The school uses reputable and commercial texts for its General English teaching, including the CEFR-aligned resource material and assessments. Students may also enrol for the Certificate in TESOL and the New Zealand Certificate in English Language programmes. Cambridge University has approved the school as a pre-testing centre for IELTS and the Teaching Knowledge Test examinations.
