Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is a new ITP established as a result of the disestablishment and subsequent merger of two high performing institutions: Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and Waiariki Institute of Technology. The institutions merged in May 2016 to better meet the education and employment needs of the region.
Programmes are delivered across multiple campuses in the Bay of Plenty. Main campuses are situated in Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne. Recently renovated and modern campuses provide a unique environment for both successful study and exciting student experience. They have everything that students need: lecture theatres, fully-equipped classrooms, laboratories, workshops studios, cafes and on-campus entertainment.
At all levels of the institute, there is a focus on partnership, innovation and prioritising student learning. Progression and pathways to higher-level study lead to strong employment outcomes and career pathways. With specialities in business, creative arts, engineering, forestry, health and nursing, hospitality, marine science, road transport, tourism, trades and more, Toi Ohomai offers courses from entry level certificates right through to postgraduate level, taught by supportive and passionate tutors.
Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology has an active and dynamic team of Research Office staff who support staff and student research across all campuses of the institute. Each faculty has a research coordinator who is available to provide advice, support and mentoring for staff.
